About

Phenomena-based learning is a powerful new way of teaching that helps the next generation learn by thinking and acting like real world scientists. It taps into our natural curiosity and encourages students to question the world around them.

A phenomenon is an observable event in the natural world that has some level of complexity and is not easily explained. They are usually presented through imagery and used as anchors of instruction. Students study the phenomena from multiple angles, using scientific inquiry and problem-solving skills with the aim of understanding and demystifying them. The teacher’s role changes from being a provider of knowledge to a guide that helps students find knowledge on their own, so you don’t need to be an ocean expert!
